Find the work you recognise.

The same four services answer very different questions depending on who is asking. Start from the one that sounds like your week, rather than from the kit list.

We are already on the Island. Island work carries no travel charge at all, which is what makes a short-notice tide window, or a re-fly after a storm, worth asking for. Mainland and South Coast projects carry a £750 minimum to cover the Solent crossing.

Our own flight — Cowes and the Medina, where most of this list sits within four miles of each other

Who we work with

Eight kinds of brief.

Every one of these is bought by somebody on this Island. If yours is not here it is still worth asking — the question is always what the output has to do.

Groundworks, civils, developers, aggregates

Construction & earthworks

Where it hurts now. Haulage booked off a drawing against clay that bulks by about a quarter. Stockpiles measured by eye at 5–10% error, often worse. Progress invoiced on an opinion. Then a valuation gets re-measured and the argument starts.

What you get back. A dated surface with the control recorded: volumes for muck away and cut and fill, stockpile figures to 1–3% from the same baseline every month, and progress against the design model. The site stays open while we fly it.

Harbour authorities, marinas, sailing clubs, ferry operators

Marine, harbour & coastal

Where it hurts now. Quay walls, revetments, groynes, slipways and pontoons inspected on foot, at low water, in whatever weather the tide gives you. Erosion described rather than measured — on parts of the Island’s south coast it runs at over a metre a year. Storm damage recorded after the fact, from the ground, for an insurer who was not there.

What you get back. The same stretch flown twice on the same control, so retreat and damage come back as a measured distance and a dated record. Hardstanding use and boat counts. Dredged arisings measured as a volume once they are landed. We are already on the Island, so a low-water window at short notice or a re-fly after a storm does not start with a travel day. What is under water needs sonar, not a camera — we will tell you that rather than sell you a survey that cannot see it.

Architects, planning consultants, chartered surveyors

Architects, planning & design

Where it hurts now. Designing off a title plan or an Ordnance Survey extract because the survey budget was not there — one of the most common reasons an application fails validation. An invalid application does not start the statutory clock, and being sent back for a topographic survey after submission costs the redesign as well as the delay.

What you get back. Measured existing conditions you can design from: topographic survey exported to CAD in the format your team already works in, a site context model, and elevations, levels and distances taken off the record later without going back to site. Ground control and an independent check point on every job.

Estates, land managers, designated landscape and visitor sites

Land, estate & environment

Where it hurts now. Around half the Island is designated landscape, and most of it is managed from experience and a clipboard. Footpath erosion, slope movement, standing water, failing drainage, landfill void and visitor pressure get described in a report rather than counted.

What you get back. Flown on the same basis each time, so the change is a measured volume and a measured distance — the form a trustee, an insurer or a regulator actually asks for. An orthomosaic of the whole holding, and a record you can put in front of a funder.

CHANGE OVER TIME · ORTHOMOSAIC · VOLUMES · CONDITION RECORD

Managing agents, housing associations, commercial agencies, roofing contractors

Property & estate management

Where it hurts now. Planned maintenance set as a rolling guess about which building is worst, because getting eyes on a roof means scaffold, a MEWP or a closed access route. Dilapidations argued without a dated record.

What you get back. Every roof plane photographed close-range in a single flight, plus a measurable 3D model with each plane numbered, so a roofer quotes from evidence rather than from a site visit. We capture and measure it; the diagnosis stays with your roofer or surveyor. Shareable with an insurer, tenant or contractor with nothing for them to install.

NO ACCESS EQUIPMENT · MEASURABLE 3D MODEL · DATED RECORD

Schools, colleges and institutional estates

Education & institutional

Where it hurts now. An estate of buildings of different ages and a maintenance budget that has to be defended to a governing body. Condition evidence gathered block by block, whenever access allows and term time permits.

What you get back. The whole estate captured in one visit: roof and elevation condition across every block, ranked with evidence behind each line. The same flight produces open-day and prospectus media.

WHOLE-ESTATE CAPTURE · CONDITION RANKING · MARKETING MEDIA

Heritage sites, listed buildings, attractions, heritage railways

Heritage & visitor attractions

Where it hurts now. A listed structure you cannot put a ladder against, a condition record that lives in photographs nobody can measure, and a funding application that wants evidence rather than description.

What you get back. A dimensionally accurate digital twin built from ground-controlled capture — a record you measure from, not an animation. Re-flown whenever you want it brought up to date and the two versions compared.

Event organisers, attractions, agencies, property marketing

Events & marketing

Where it hurts now. Coverage booked by the hour that comes back as rushes somebody still has to fix, from a pilot who could not legally get close enough to the thing worth filming.

What you get back. Finished stills and edited video, graded and ready to publish, flown under CAA PDRA01 and A2 CofC so we can work close to a live audience. Each tier scoped to the coverage it needs, not to hours on site.

4K/10-BIT · RAW STILLS · PDRA01 & A2 CofC

Whichever of these you are, the method does not change: ground control laid and surveyed on every job, an independent check point held back, and twelve months’ hosting in the price with no seat for your team to buy. See how it works →
